Count your blessings.

Sometimes I wonder...

Have i not been blessed enough to have a family?
Have i not been blessed enough to have friends?
Have i not been blessed enough to have food?
Have i not been blessed enough to have shelter?
Have i not been blessed enough to have clothing?
Have i not been blessed enough to have the chance of education?
Have i not been blessed enough to live in this beautiful country?
Have i not been blessed enough that i still have my health?
and of all things, Have i not been blessed enough that I have a life?
Most importantly, Have i not been blessed enough that i have God?

Many a times, we have a tendency to take things for granted, that we do not realize how blessed we are as compared to many others out there. Perhaps in this 21st century, things have always been ready and prepared for us, that it has become a "norm" that it should be that way.

Nevertheless, what we do not realize or rather see is all the effort and hard work behind these things. Take for example, where do you think you get your food? Why of course one would say, "food? you can get it anywhere.." Right, now the question is How? Another would then say "you pay for it." Yes, and where exactly does the money come from?
Speaking from a teenager's perspective, is it not from our parents who have worked hard all day to keep us supported, ensuring that we do not hunger?
Education, without the moral and financial support of our parents, where would we get the opportunity to be educated?

Truth is, many things seemed to have already been prepared for us because of the hard work someone else has put in. I'm not trying to say that we have not put in any effort, why of course if you want certain things to be done, you have to make the effort yourself. But basically what i'm saying is, we ought to be thankful for the little things in life, because it's these little things that add up to the lives that we currently live in.

Is it that hard to say a word of 'Thank You' to those who've done something for you?
Is it that hard to say 'You've done a good job' to those who fulfilled even the slightest responsibility?
Is it really that hard to say 'I love you' to our mum and dad who have raised us till this day, who've never failed to be there for us?

Perhaps many a times we are just too occupied with other things in life, that we do not realize or rather see how a slightest word of gratitude can make a difference. Truth is, you'll never know how simple things like this can turn one's world around, how it can make a person's day.
Of course, it shouldn't be just mere words, but rather heartfelt, because if you don't mean what you say, then what is the point of saying it?

Action is just as important, in fact it plays an even more important role than words. As the saying goes, "Action speaks louder than words." Wouldn't a pat on a shoulder help comfort your friend who just suffered the loss of his or her pet? How about bringing a cup of tea to Daddy who just came back after a long day from work?
Because little gestures like these conveys a certain message that you actually care, or appreciate the person concerned, what he or she has done. Try not to wait for the "right time" to express how you feel, because you'll never know when it's too late. Afterall, life is but a vapour, never certain.

Being mere humans, there bound to be times that we feel certain things are lacking in our lives, but instead of looking at things we don't already have, how about realizing how fortunate we are to have the basic needs of life and having blessed with things others don't already have?

Count your blessings name them one by one,
Count your blessings see what God has done,
Count your blessings,
Name them one by one,
Count your many blessings, see what God has done.

How about counting your blessings today?
